Ash Wednesday: February 18
Worship Services at 12:00 Noon and 7:00 pm in the SCC Meeting House
The season of Lent–that time of holy journeying, deepening, and growth that leads us to the Easter mysteries of Christ’s death-and-resurrection–begins with Ash Wednesday on February 18th.
During Lent, the people of God will reflect on the meaning of their baptism into Christ’s death and resurrection. The sign of ashes we receive on Ash Wednesday suggests our human mortality and frailty… but what seems like an ending is really an invitation to make each day a new beginning, in which we are washed in God’s mercy and forgiveness. With the cross on our brow, we long for the spiritual renewal that flows from the Easter feast to come.
Join us February 18th for Ash Wednesday worship — a moving and rich service with music, prayer, scripture, confession, and the sign of ashes — at either 12:00 Noon or 7:00 pm in the meeting house.
If coming to the 12:00 Noon service, please feel free to make use of the designated street parking areas along North Eagleville as is allowed on the weekends. Note, however, that neighboring UConn lots are not available during working hours on weekdays. (See our Directions & Parking page for more info)
