Women’s Fellowship Program and Luncheon – October 19

Categories: Carillon Newsletter,News

On Thursday, October 19th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. come and gather in the Parish House Lounge for a wonderful Women’s Fellowship sponsored mid-day program titled “Settling In – Here in the Quiet Corner”. This program is presented by Ann Plumley and others from the Quiet Corner Refugee Resettlement organization. Ann will share evolving insight into QCRR’s role and mission here in Connecticut’s Quiet Corner and share stories of the settled family’s experiences. We will explore the ways, we, as a faith community, can continue to support and advocate for our communities as welcoming places in the world.

We will park and gather in the Parish House Lounge starting at 11:15 a.m. for fellowship with “Coffee…and” with the program beginning at 11:30 a.m. after a brief opening prayer. The program will include time for questions and a discussion. Lunch will begin around 12:45 with an opportunity for program-focused table suggestions about our Women’s Fellowship and Storrs Congregational Church partnership now and in the future with QCRR.

Watch for an announcement of the luncheon menu and the invitation to register to attend so plans can be made to meet your dietary and comfortable seating needs. Contact: Dianne Sprague, WF Vice President at dispraguew@gmail.com and Jane Joesten, WF Program Co-Chair at joesten@uconn.edu and Eileen Metzgar, WF Program Co-Chair at eileen@metzgars.com if you are interested in assisting with set up, or with the menu for the luncheon. WF funding of the luncheon will be supplemented by a freewill donation at the event. We anticipate to be done no later than 1:30 p.m. but assistance through 2:00 with cleanup is welcome.

Perhaps you have already been involved in our church’s fundraising efforts or in furnishing homes, volunteered as a driver or, helped with children’s activities and tutoring. Or, perhaps you are interested in finding out more about this “Just Peace” activity, you will want to hear more about this project and the difference QCRR has made and will continue to make not only in the lives of the families whom we have settled but in the lives of those involved in the network of volunteer efforts. PLAN TO JOIN US!
