Earthkeepers Corner

Summer is just around the corner, and it is wonderful to hear about all the gardens being planted in congregations around Connecticut!  We hope you are remembering our dwindling pollinator populations and making space for their favorite flowers, and to keep your garden free of herbicides and pesticides!   IREJN and Knox Inc. are joining to plant a big patch of Milkweed, necessary for the Monarch Butterfly to breed. Knox has a strip of land off of Niles Street in Hartford, in front of the community gardens.  We will be planting on Tuesday June 12 at 2:00 PM, and you are welcome to join us!

Our big Summer project is joining with “Save the Sound” for a Beach Clean Up on Sunday June 24 at 2:00 PM at Long Wharf Harbor in New Haven.  Our Outreach Coordinator Shawnee Baldwin  is organizing this, so contact her for details. We’re hoping for up to 50 volunteers; children are welcome with an adult supervisor.  Save the Sound will provide the cleanup equipment, so bring your reusable water bottle, sun lotion and join us! Register at shawneebaldwin5@gmail.com by June 20.

All this and more at www.irejn.org … blessings on your faithful stewardship of our beautiful Earth!
