Our next book discussion is Sunday, November 18th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library.
The book choice for November 18 is Atomic City Girls by Janet Beard. Beard explores the backstory in the development of the atomic bomb. She uses several narrators to tell the story of the secret research conducted at Oak Ridge Tennessee. June Walker, the primary narrator, boards an unmarked bus to a city that doesn’t exist. She joins hundreds of other young women who operate massive machines for an unknown purpose. Other narrators help develop the story as each one moves toward some knowledge of the scope and impact of their work.
