Building & Grounds Workday

Categories: Carillon Newsletter,News

In May, SCC benefited from another successful Properties Workdays Weekend.  Successful because the weather was cooperative and there are a significant number of volunteers who reliably appear twice a year to assist with buildings and grounds improvements.  The faces may change but there is a consistent willingness of individuals to bring an assigned chore to completion.

Major accomplishments include re-organizing the Brides and Grooms Rooms as well as the “Deacons Kitchen”; completion of the rebuilding of the stairway to the lower lawn; spreading six yards of mulch in areas all over the property; stripping and painting two benches in the courtyard; removing a pile of accumulated junk near the cemetery; re-leveling the stone bench in the courtyard; replacing a window pane and painting three windows outside the lounge; raking the cemetery; installing and sealing most of the air conditioners; rebuilding and mortaring the entrances to the Chapel and Education Wing; two shrubs were planted on the sides of the sign on the corner;  renovation of the rental office space has begun and four tiles are being replaced on the second floor of the Education Wing.

Many thanks to the following for their contributions of time and talents:  Peter Baldwin, Bob Berube, Laurie Brookes, Charles Chester, Darryl Hilliard, Jane & Ray Joesten, Armand Johnson, Bryan Klimkiewicz, Jamie & Wes Lang-Rodean, Peter Latincsics, Lindsay & Sue Irvine, Dick & Pam Roberts and Nancy Rucker.  Your support and contributions are sincerely appreciated.
