MUSIC PROGRAM
Worship
the LORD with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Psalm 100:2
Storrs Congregational Church is well
known in the area for its wonderful music program.
Under the leadership of
Dr. Patricia
Snyder, Director of Music Ministry, SCC's music program offers many
opportunities for participation for all ages.
Central to our worship services is our
magnificent Fisk organ which, besides providing us
with inspirational sounds each Sunday, also serves as a recital and concert
instrument for the University of Connecticut musical community several times a
year. In 2006 we celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the organ's
dedication.
Our
Adult Choir,
a group of 20-25 enthusiastic singers, is the most active group,
providing anthems almost every Sunday of the liturgical year.
The
Youth Choir, directed by Wendy Hamlin and accompanied by Gwen Duff, comprises
over 25 young singers and inspires us with their joyful voices every few weeks.
The Music Circle, our youngest group of singers, is directed by Janice Castle.
On the
instrumental side, we are blessed with a talented group of enthusiastic
handbell players which comprise our Adult Handbell Choir and our
Children's Handbell Choir.
Storrs
Congregational Church proudly houses the historic Dunham
Carillon tower bells. During the summer
our carillon fills the air as we welcome world-famous guest carillonneurs to
perform at our Concerts on the Lawn!
Several
times throughout the year, we offer superior faith-based performances as part
of our Music Series. Be sure to check our
website and come to our concerts!!
Our
ensembles are open to all and we always welcome new musicians. If you are
interested in joining one of our musical groups, please contact
Trisha Snyder at 429-9382,
ext. 16.
