CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

Ready for Phase II (and III)!

• Phase II: May thru September – installation of the elevator and construction of the second floor connector between the Parish House and Education Building;
• Phase III: June thru July - construction of the Education Building ramp and moving doors.

Entry to the Parish House and the Education Building will be restricted to specified doorways. Signage will be posted to direct us all during the construction time.

Hardhat Area – This Means Us!
Before the construction phases began we were all asked to go into work areas only when accompanied by Bill Thompson, our Project Manager, or Charles Warren, our construction representative. Building Committee members have emphasized that as we enter the next phases of construction there will be a renewed possibility for injury.  Please Remember: Do not go into any of the construction areas at any time of day or night  unless accompanied by Bill Thompson or Charles Warren.

Let’s Keep the Momentum Over the Summer! 
As reported at the March 29^th congregational meeting, the church has secured a three-year line of credit for a maximum of $750,000 from NewAlliance Bank for the Welcoming All project. Borrowing, as needed, will probably begin in June and will continue during construction.  Keeping up to date with your Welcoming All pledge payments during the summer and fall will make a big difference in reducing the amount we need to borrow and interest costs over the life of the loan.

Haven’t Pledged or Contributed to the Project Yet? 
Our formal capital campaign is complete, but as we begin to use our new welcoming entrance and restroom facilities we will begin to “live” the vision of Welcoming All.  Remember, new and additional pledges and gifts are welcome at any time over the next three years. You can contribute by requesting a pledge card or writing a check to Storrs Congregational Church with “Welcoming All” on the memo line. Blue Welcoming All offering envelopes are also available in the meeting house and parish house lounge. If you’d like more information about how to support the Welcoming All vision or about construction progress, contact the church office at 860-429-9382.

Another Look as the Vestibule and New Office Neared Completion

The photographs below give a peek into the new vestibule and church office just days before their completion at the end of May.
