The above theme and logo were selected for the capital campaign that will fund the Storrs Congregational Church’s accessibility project.

Welcoming All: Campaign for Accessibility is the theme of the capital campaign that will raise $1.1 million, and a silhouette view of the meeting house weathervane serves as the campaign logo. Both the theme and logo were approved by the Campaign Executive Committee from choices presented by the Brochure Task Group.

The Welcoming All: Campaign for Accessibility goal of $1.1 million will support the project to improve accessibility to the Parish House and Education Building. The campaign is seeking pledges of support from the membership of the SCC, and will look for support from other sources, to reach the goal.

The logo utilizes the cock found on the weathervane at the top of the meeting house steeple. In Christian tradition, the crowing of the cock at dawn calls us all to prayer.  The cock crowed after Peter's denials of Jesus. Its image reminds Christians to remain faithful to Christ and true to what God is calling us to do. In addition, just as the crow of the cock welcomes the new day, the campaign theme, Welcoming All, stresses the effort of the project to make the church's buildings accessible and usable for all in the community. The theme and logo appears on campaign materials, from stationery and pledge cards to banners, posters, and news releases.

A major piece of the accessibility project is the installation of an elevator that will provide access to the second floors of both the SCC Parish House and the adjacent Education Building. To make way for the elevator and provide a more welcoming and inviting entry, the church office will be moved to the west end of the Parish House. In addition, the project will include construction of accessible restrooms in both buildings, and the installation of a ramp to replace several stairs at the east end of the Education Building.

The architect's rendering below shows the west end of the Education Building with the projected second floor addition that will connect the second floors of the Education Building and the Parish House.
