A happy Mother's Day weekend to all of you who are mothers, who have mothers, who have ever 'mothered' someone or been 'mothered' by someone in whatever way and time! Alas, Mother's Day is not all that's happening this week, so here's a quick look at what's coming up in the time ahead:

This Saturday: Spring Fair
This Saturday, May 12th, will be filled with plenty of activity with our annual Spring Fair, a community-oriented event with a plant, bake, and tag sale; the Belgian Waffle Cafe; a gift boutique including SERRV international gifts and quilted and handicraft items; entertainment; and more! You can volunteer time on the day of the Fair; you can contribute a gift, craft, plant, and/or food item... buy most importantly, you can come and share in fun and fellowship--and bring your friends, family, and more. - Also this Saturday: You are needed for our Food Delivery
May 12th is also the day of our annual Food Delivery from the US Postal Service. As you may know, each year the USPS does a food drive in the spring, and postal customers contributions are delivered here at SCC to help with the food pantry and our seasonal food distributions. The deliveries need to have expiration dates checked, and then we need to stack and sort and put-away. Volunteers are needed for this very important ministry, and any moments you can give on the 12th will be much appreciated! If you are available and willing, you are asked to come at around 4:00 pm to the Parish House Lounge. Please contact Linda Albright if you have questions...
What are great day it will be—at the Spring Fair, you might obtain a little "something" for yourself, and then you can come later and help sort food for those in need. A little receiving; a little giving--that thing that means so much to the Holy One!

We gather for morning worship this Sunday, with a sermon titled "But We've Never Done It That Way!"... Sunday School continues for all ages... After-worship time includes our weekly time of conversation and refreshments and open library time... Senior Pilgrim Fellowship gathers in the evening... A wonderful day at SCC!
- Give a Mother's Day Gift...
Which do you think your mother would really prefer: another set of flowers that are just going to wilt in a week anyway (and which she'll just have to clean up), or the knowledge that something lasting has been given in her honor to those in need...? This Sunday is Church World Service's Blanket+ Sunday! It coincides with Mother’s Day, and you can bring a wonderful gift to someone meaningful. We'll collect this special offering during worship, which supports the missions of Church World Service around the world, including blankets, tools for sustainable work, education and more (that's why we call it "Blankets Plus").
Anyone giving a gift over $5 to Blanket+ Sunday can even receive a Mother's Day card to give to the person you're honoring. Bettejane Karnes will have them for you at Fellowship Hour following worship. How exciting to be able to do two good things at the same time!
