Due to the early release of February SNAP funds, our Food Pantry has had a lot of activity this past month. The food pantry has also been recently recognized by UConn as a food resource for students facing Food Insecurities.
Local families and off-campus students are simply not receiving enough food or assistance to put food on their tables and the Food Pantry has become a vital necessity for their dietary needs.
Donations are always appreciated.
Please consider mentioning our Food Pantry to friends and neighbors in the
community – many people would like to help out but are not sure where they can
make a donation.
For folks who are not able to shop but would like to contribute, monetary
donations may be made via check payable to SCC with “Food Pantry” in the memo
line.
Here are some items that are always needed:
- Cereal (hot or cold)
- Peanut Butter
- Jam & Jelly
- Canned Pasta Dinners
- Canned chicken & Canned meats
- Stews
- Corned Beef Hash
- Mayonnaise
- Canned Fruit (unsweetened)
You can bring your contributions to the Parish House and leave them in the Food Pantry or bring them to Worship and leave them in the grocery cart and we’ll take care of shelving the items.
