How will YOU contribute to the Welcome Back Tag and Bake Sale success?

  • Donate to the Bake Sale Table.

WHAT sells well at the BAKE SALE TABLE?: Baked items, canned jams and jellies, pickles or no bake candies and treats. Whole cakes, pies, breads, and tarts are favorite good sellers. Cupcakes, cookies, squares, brownies, etc. packed into sealed/wrapped ½ dozrn quantities sell well.

When to drop off in the lounge Kitchen: Thursday August 25, Friday August 26 by 3 pm or through Saturday, August 27 by 10 AM  so things will be fresh and scrumptious!

Sort, price, safely store and plan display Friday, August 26,  3-4:30

Sort, price and display outdoors (Saturday, August 27, 10 to 12:45

Oversee assist customers in shifts Sat. 1 to 6

Consolidate, move food to kitchen and safely store Saturday 5:30 to 6:30

Sunday Assist with Sunday set up for self-serve sales 8:15 through 8:30 AM.

  • Donate to the Tag Sale: Items which sell well include the following.  Think dorm room, small apartment and include small furniture that will fit into a SUV or small pick up truck… NOTE: pick up of items provided if requested.  A simple “dollar tent” pricing scheme will decrease pricing time and make it easier for our cashiers.  A tab system will be used as in the past. 

 Here are some best sellers given our previous Welcome Back fundraisers: Small furniture: Bookcases, tables, chairs, lamps, desks, & appliances, Household & kitchen items, utensils, pots, pans, coffee makers, tea pots small sets of dishes, glassware and mug sets of at least 2, flatware, knives, cutting boards, serving dishes and bowls, baking items etc. Sets and collections work well and may be priced as a set.  Bathroom and bed linens, lounging or chair pillows, Crafts, yarns & fabric, knitting needle sets, etc. Sports items, bicycles, & toys, Games, puzzles, & books especially cook books, gardening books, DIY books. Outdoor furniture & decorative outdoor items, bird houses, bird feeders etc.Office, storage items for surfaces or for closets, & travel items like suitcases/bags, Gently used UCONN items sell well.

When to Drop Off for sorting, pricing, and packing or displaying:

Tag and gift items may be placed near the Fireplace Alcove of the Lounge

NOW when the building is open through Wednesday, August 24, 12 noon.

Saturday August 27 from 9 AM through Noon for pricing/displaying

Volunteers Needed:  contact Pam Roberts or Jamie Lang-Rodean to volunteer, contact Pam to request pick-up or to discuss bringing large items on Saturday, August 27,  by 12.

Tasks: sort, price, clean, and pack for display outside .

Crews needed for these below scheduled times or suggest a time you are available.

Thursday, August 11, 9 AM to 11 AM.

Thursday, August 18, 9 AM to 11 AM

Thursday, August 25, 9 AM to 11 AM

Friday, August 26, 10 AM till done

Saturday, August 27, 10 AM till done

Saturday, August 27, 1 to 2 Sales associates in shifts 1 PM to 6 PM

Saturday, August 27  5:30 to 6:30 – Consolidate and secure items inside walled tents or cover with tarps preparing for easy open on Sunday.

Sunday, August 28,  8 to 8:30 when we open to the public, remove walls from tents and tarps, set up displays

Sunday, August 28 at 12:30 -1:30 clean up, and consolidate with some left over things left in one closed tent to be filled with things which may open up for “fill a bag for a $) 4:30 to 6:30 to maximize our sales and minimize what needs to be hauled to  WAIM and other agencies accepting donations. 

Monday, August 29, 9 AM to noon Final clean up

Other volunteer needs include hauling crews or ideally 6 people or more:

Pre-set up and stage tables and canopies to 1st floor Thursday, August 25 afternoon 2:30 to 4:30

Pre-Set up Friday, August 26, 8:30 to 1? Tent decisions made.

Final-set up Saturday, August 27,  8:30 AM to 12 noon.
