Remembering Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Categories: News

Friends,

We are in the season of Epiphany, welcoming in the light of God to illuminate our daily lives and our life together. This Sunday, January 15th, we remember the birthday of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. King was a bright light, indeed; he was a tireless champion during the Civil Rights movement for people of color, and a persistent advocate for racial and social justice. Said King, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” May Rev. Dr. King’s legacy shine into our life together at SCC, that we too may be a light unto the world, serving God’s mission of justice, love, and peace for all. For what does the Lord require of us but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with our God? (Micah 6:8)
