The news has been devastating. The natural beauty of Hawaii’s pristine wide open spaces, ancient rainforests, historic trails, culturally significant sites, as well as homes and businesses have all been reduced to large swaths of burned rubble with loss of over 100 lives, and 1000 people still missing. Many people are asking how they can help. The United Church of Christ, through Wider Church Ministries, is issuing a special appeal to provide essential items and long-term support to those impacted by wildfires across Hawaii, including the deadly wildfires on the island of Maui. If you would like to make a donation, please make your check payable to ‘SCC’ with ‘Hawaii wildfires’ in the memo line and SCC will send a check of the proceeds all at once. You may also donate online by clicking on the blue “Give Now” button on the home page of our website, and selecting “Hawaii Wildfires” as the donation option when prompted.
