Women’s Connections is the new name for the combined and expanded historic Connecticut Women’s Fellowship Board to pilot an SNE present exploring ways to be a resource to CT, MA, and RI women’s initiatives in local churches of the SNE Conference, and that Conference TEAM is named SNE Women’s Connections TEAM.   Our church made a transition of dissolving our constitution and bylaws as a Women’s Fellowship under the CT Conference of UCC and integrated our programs, teams such as Service Sewing, Fair Trade Gifts, CWS Kit and monthy or bymonthly luncheon meetings on topics of interest such as Refugee Resettlement, and our Memorial Receptions Team into the new governing structure of SCC ministries  in 2018.  The SNE Women’s Connection provides fellowship, resources, guidance and encouragement through worship, study and service together.

I am honored to nominate Janis Hoyle for her outstanding service to family, church and community. Janis is a respected and dedicated member and a pillar of Storrs Congregational Church.  She has been instrumental in making our church grow and progress. She is a tireless fighter for peace and justice, especially in the area of promoting justice and humanitarian change and reform. At SCC, she has worked with other members of the church to expand our food pantry, going from a small closet in the parish house to being in partnership with FOOD SHARE and helping a greater population of people with food insecurity. She has worked hard to make SCC a Just Peace Church. She saw the fruition of the construction and installment of a Peace Pole on the property of SCC. She is an exceptional leader and a wonderful blessing of SCC. She currently holds several leadership positions.
