UCC UConn, the campus ministry student group at the University of Connecticut affiliated with us here at Storrs Congregational Church UCC, is hard at work assisting with disaster recovery needs in coastal South Carolina this week, March 13th to 19th.

Working through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance—the emergency and refugee program of our United Church of Christ’s full-communion partner denomination, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)—the group has been staying at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, South Carolina, and working with the newly-formed Long Term Recovery Group for the Winyah Bay region.  The work for the week has consisted of helping rehabilitate a former school in Andrews, South Carolina, to prepare it to become the new home base for the Long Term Recovery Group, a place out of which further disaster rebuilding efforts will be based.

Members of the UCC UConn team are posting daily reflections from the trip on their blog at uccuconn.org.  Check it out!
