On April 8th we will return to our reading and discussion of The Future of Faith by Harvey Cox.  (A spare copy is available from Ed Tomastik.)  We’ll be on Chapter 5, The People of the Way, The Devolution from Faith to Belief, and also Chapter 6, The Bishop Is Your High Priest and Mighty King, The Rise of the Clerical Caste.  Everyone is welcome to join in.   As soon as the Library is completed, we’ll be meeting there. In the mean time we meet in Room 201 in the Education Building.

C.A.F.E. Storrs continues to meet at 10:30 on Wednesdays in the Parish House Lounge, with leadership alternating between Pastors Matt and Nancy.  The group has been working with a fabulous lectionary resource, Faith Element, which provides helpful framing for the Sunday ahead.  Join us for stimulating conversation and coffee!

Sunday School

Our Sunday School learning continues in April with the celebration of Eastertide! Alongside those worshiping in the Meeting House we will continue to explore stories of new life. Throughout this period the Sunday Schoolers will be creating and sharing dramatic interpretations of resurrection stories.

We also invite children and youth of the church to sign up to be acolyte or Psalm reader in Sunday’s worship.  It is a joy to see the kids in worship leadership roles and we want to encourage it! Please see Pastor Nancy to sign up.

Easter is on April 1st! Part of our Faith Formation celebration of Easter includes a powerfully moving, and fun, hunt through the church cemetery for clues about Jesus’s resurrection, and celebration of the good news of the day.  Join us at 9:00 am for a special and meaningful experience for all ages.

Youth@SCC (Y@SCC)

Upcoming Fellowship gatherings for youth in grades 6-12…all gatherings begin in the Youth Room, in room 106 of the Christian Education building.
Meetings: April 8 11:30-1:00 & April 22 11:30-1:00

Looking Ahead to May….

Y@SCC, including our four confirmands, is headed to the CityReach program through Ecclesia Ministries in Boston on May 11 and 12. This program examines the systemic and interpersonal dynamics that lead to high rates of homelessness in our country. The weekend includes a time of service in addition to time for reflection, worship, and didactic style learning as well.

Save the date if you’d like to join us, and let Pastor Nancy know!
