2008 Heritage Sunday Honorees
Remember, renew, recommit on Reformation Sunday, October 28th.
What do you do the year after a major anniversary? Keep on making new history, of course! Last year, we remembered 500 years since the Protestant Reformation, and 280 years since a new faith community formed to meet people where they were, here on a hilltop in northern Mansfield. The story of God’s Spirit at work in and through us hasn’t stopped with those milestone anniversaries, though, and this year we honor our “heritage” most fully as we look forward to each and every tomorrow from which God beckons.
In 2018, we also celebrate 10 years since we together took a step—or was that an elevator ride?—into a new tomorrow of more fully welcoming all into our midst. We reshaped parts of our physical space, and at the same time renewed our collective commitment to our long-standing vocation of meeting people where they are with the embrace of God and community.
Remembering the places and passions from which we’ve come… renewing bonds of community and connection among us… recommitting for the journey ahead: Plan to be a part of it all for our Heritage Sunday 2018 celebrations, coming up on Reformation Sunday, October 28th.
- We’ll gather as the Body of Christ for Reformation Sunday worship at 10:00 am, during which we’ll honor our longest-term members (those who’ve been part of this particular community for over 40 years), welcome some of our newest ones, and share in a re-covenanting together among all of our members.
- Following worship, we’ll continue in fellowship and community at our annual Heritage Sunday Potluck Luncheon.
