It is an honor and a privilege to serve as the Chair of the Storrs Congregational Church Governing Board. I have learned much during my first two years as a member of the Board and I look forward to continued growth serving in this role. I look forward to serving with the following individuals:

The Board also has three sub committees including Finance and Administration, Facilities, and Ministries. The committees are designed to further support the Ministry Leaders in their work. The committees are comprised of the following individuals.
Finance and Administration:
- Laurie Brookes, Jan Castle, and Annetta Miller
Facilities:
- Bryan Klimkiewicz, Peter Baldwin, Darryl Hilliard, and Jackie Cheney.
Ministries:
- Stacy Malecki, Sue Irvine, Ken Doeg, Josie Evan, and Lindsay Irvine.
The Board has been busy with several activities including an orientation process and a planning retreat led by Pastor Matt and Pastor Nancy. Not only did these activities help us to bond as a team, but they also resulted in the development of our goals and continued open questions.
The Board goals for 2019-2020 were developed through a collaborative process of discernment and prayerful consideration. We reviewed previous goals and accomplishments, current activities, and considered opportunities for future growth. The following goals were developed:
a. Write and adopt a Mission Statement for SCC, and have Ministry Leaders identify necessary changes to SCC’s ministry activities to align them with that mission.
b. Develop a communications plan to tell our ongoing story as a church to ourselves and others.
c. Make plans to implement at least one concrete, ongoing, new ministry of our church that is an embodiment of our Just Peace commitment.
Open questions are questions that help Boards and congregations engage in discussions. Open questions are not easily answered with yes/no responses but they help frame priorities and areas of focus in the life of our church. The Board has collectively identified the following open questions:
1). How does the use of space in our church support our mission?
2). How do we show our welcoming spirit to the community around us?
3). What does success look like in terms of participation and engagement?
We look forward to the work ahead in our faith journey and thank you for your support in advance.
Blessings from the Board!
