SWING TIME by Zadie Smith is the book for discussion on May 19, 2024, at 4:00pm in person and via Zoom. It is the story of the only two “brown” girls who meet in a dance class and form an immediate alliance. Both girls love rhythm and music. One is clever and self-doubting while the other is confident and self-destructive. They evolve and change, and as they go through adolescence into adulthood their lives diverge. Female friendships and family relationships are important parts of the story.
