AED/CPR for Friends and Families will be offered on Wednesday, April 22nd at 6PM in the lounge. This will be continued education offered by trainer Brian Clinton with presentation and practice on mannekins. You may have noticed our newly installed AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) and will want to feel comfortable using one if needed. This is a non-certification, low-stress course designed to teach essential, lifesaving skills to laypeople, such as parents, grandparents, and caregivers. It focuses on hands-on practice for adult/child/infant AED use and CPR, and includes practice making it ideal for gaining confidence to act in an emergency until help arrives. But we will not repeat the “Until Help Arrives” training. Our courses are also supported by Cecile Serazo, BSN, RN of Eastern Highlands Health District. First Aid and Stop the Bleed will be offered on Wednesday, April 29th at 6:00 PM in the lounge. This class is designed to empower bystanders to act as immediate responders during traumatic bleeding emergencies. The course is offered by our returning trainer Brian Clinton and teaches three essential, hands-on techniques—applying direct pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets—to stop life-threatening bleeding before professional medical help arrives. The average time for someone to bleed out after experiencing serious physical trauma from an injury is only 3-5 minutes. A brief description of this last year left people wanting more on this life saving technique. Both our courses are also supported by Cecile Serazo, BSN, RN of Eastern Highlands Health District.
